Egg Rolls

The Most Delicious Egg Rolls

You didn't know what I wrote about this week did you? Well since you are here you might as well stick around a while.

If you love egg rolls and have never tried to make them now is your chance to learn just how quick and easy it can be. Many people think egg rolls are really hard to make I guess because they are more expensive then some things you can buy pre-made and they are so good. I guess it's one of the best kept secrets that they are not only delicious they are way too easy to make.

First decide what kind you want to make. You decide what you like best any kind of meat will do. I love pork sausage the most and so does the family so that is what I make most often although I have made beef, pork, and chicken from the grill this turns out really great too. You can also make them all meat like barbecue chicken, pork or beef. You can make them with taco meat and cheese. You can make them with cream cheese and chive with shrimp. You can kick it up by adding spices and hot sauce too. What ever flips your skirt tickles your fancy or turns your crank any meat will do.

Now the meat needs to be pre-cooked as well as the cabbage and carrots. I love cabbage and carrots but you could use other vegetables if you would like.

Add a few table spoons of oil to your frying pan and stir fry your cabbage and carrots, I also added some red bell peppers and onions to mine. Fry or cook your meat, make sure you drain your grease off once it is fully cooked.

What You Will Need

1 package pre-cut coleslaw in a bag

1 roll 16 oz Jimmy Dean sausage

1 package egg rolls wraps

Pan or deep fryer for frying

Cooking oil for frying

Paper Towels to drain egg rolls

Now the meat needs to be pre-cooked as well as the cabbage and carrots. I love cabbage and carrots but you could use other vegetables if you would like.

Fry or cook your meat, make sure you drain your grease off once it is fully cooked. Add a few table spoons of oil to your frying pan and stir fry your cabbage and carrots, I also added some red bell peppers and onions to mine.

Next you will take your egg roll wraps and spoon in a small amount to roll them up for deep frying. To roll them just spoon your mix into the middle a few tbsp should do the trick and roll them like cute little packages.

The best way to seal them is with a small amount of water on the edges where your wraps will meet the other side of the wrap this will keep it nice and tight for deep frying. You will notice they will stick together easily so I make sure I do not put them to close together while I am rolling them.

The picture on top is grilled chicken I had left over in the fridge. The next one down is the pork.

When you are close to having all but a few wraps rolled up you can go ahead and heat your oil to fry them up in.

Once you are ready go ahead and fry them until they are golden brown on both sides. This does not take long and since your meat is already cooked it is even quicker.

Drain them on a paper towel so they are not too greasy. I like to let them cool then move them to my serving dish. Then serve them up and viola your family and friends will love them. Don't forget the dipping sauce or soy sauce.

My kids swear these are great cold too they love them and will snack on them for after school right out of the fridge. I would rather eat them warm myself.

* Also as a side note you can buy a can of pie filling apple or cherry.

Double wrap them with two wrappers instead of one. One is too thin and when it breaks open in your oil it will make a mess and pop grease all over the place trust me I found this out the hard way lol. These can be wrapped in a square shape to hold a bit more filling.

Deep fry like the egg rolls and sprinkle with powered sugar if you like. My family likes them with out powered sugar.

You could even drizzle your turn over with chocolate sauce or raspberry sauce for a pretty presentation.

Add any sauce you like to a plastic baggie and cut a very small whole in the end of it. Now decorate away.

You can serve them on single plate with chocolate sauce in a pretty design on top and then add powered sugar around the turnover. This is a very affordable, delicious desert. The best part is it's quick and easy just the way I like it. Happy first day of Fall you all. Have a great one.
